Praise the Lord!
God is not forcing us to praise Him even if He indeed deserves all science and peace prizes of the Universe as He invented
everything!
"You are worthy, our LORD and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and
by your will they were created and have their being" (Revelation 4:11).
It is obvious that people all around the globe
have two choices: to decide to recognize God or to live without Him. If God had created us with the only option- that of praising
Him- it would have made us robots. We are not forced to praise God, we can choose which way to follow.
But does God
need our praise?
Would a self-sufficient God need something? Can’t He do without human praise?
First,
we need to realize that giving thanks for what we received from God is different from praising Him. To praise God means to
acknowledge God for who He is, for His attributes while thanks giving is connected to what He has done for us, what He gave
us.
The God who created everything does not need our praise; He can do very well without it!
It is we who need
to praise Him! While praising Him we reinforce in our minds and hearts the fact that we indeed have an almighty Father who
performs miracles! He is after all a supernatural God!
It is through praise that we can trade death for life, bondage
for freedom, and sorrow for joy because the Bible says that God dwells in the midst of praise! "But you are holy, you who
inhabit the praises of Israel" (Psalm 22:3) .
Consequently, if we long to see an understandable and clear demonstration
of God's grace and presence, all we have to do is to praise Him with our entire being: heart, mind, and soul.
Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise you with
the lyre, O God, my God.
Psalm 92:1 92:1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
Psalm 100:4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless
his name!
Psalm 101:1 101:1 I will sing of steadfast love and justice; to you, O Lord, I will make music.
Psalm 105:1-2 105:1 Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing
to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!
Psalm 149:1-5 149:1 Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in
the assembly of the godly! Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King! Let them
praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre! For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he
adorns the humble with salvation. Let the godly exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds.
Psalm 150 150:1 Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise
him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness!
Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise
him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything
that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Jeremiah 17:14 Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for you are my
praise.
Acts 16:25-34 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were
listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately
all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were unfastened. When the jailer woke and saw that the prison doors were open,
he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul cried with a loud voice,
“Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.” And the jailer called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with
fear he fell down before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” And they spoke the
word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds;
and he was baptized at once, he and all his family. Then he brought them up into his house and set food before them. And he
rejoiced along with his entire household that he had believed in God.
Hebrews 13:15 Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit
of lips that acknowledge his name.
